God's Purpose in Creation
In C.S. Lewis' powerful book, The Problem With Pain, he states, "God did not create us to love him. He created us so that he could love us." This is a powerful and life-altering statement. God chose us to pour his infinite love and grace upon.
The Majesty We Often Miss
Often times, I run through life without seeing the beauty and majesty of God. He is eternal, immortal and unmovable. He reminds us in Job that He was there when the earth was placed, and He knows the numbers of stars and their names. While I am doing menial task throughout my day, I do not recognize that he is the first and the last. He is my fortress, my deliverer and my strength.
Beyond Description
As I lay down my head to rest, I forget that He is my salvation. He is my hope, my love and my everlasting joy. God is all these things and infinitely more. Words could not describe the depth of his character and there are not enough pages to explore the richness of His glory. He is everything, and everything draws their life from Him even if they do not acknowledge Him.
Created to Be Loved
He is all these things, yet He created me to be loved by him. This is the reason why we find such marvelous language describing the goodness of God. I know that I am unlovable, a sinner, and a failure. I know that I am not worthy of this greatness he so lavishly lays upon me, but He still does.
More Than We Can Bare
God's goodness to me is more than I can bare. He created me to be loved by Him, and he knows my darkest thoughts and my weak behavior. This is only the goodness of God.
